Overall Performance:

Kamal and Kapil Dev, you both brought the fire to the 2025 Delhi Hyrox competition! With an overall rank of 98 out of 212 athletes, you are in the top 46%—that's impressive! In your age group (35-39), securing the 27th position out of 50 athletes shows that you’re in the mix with some fierce competition. Your overall time of 01:37:00 is commendable, especially when we consider that your total running time clocked in at 53:12, which is a solid 02:41 faster than the average for your finish time.

Now, let's talk pacing. Your first running segment was strong, clocking in at 05:38, slightly faster than average, which shows you started with a good mindset. However, some segments, particularly in the latter half of the race, saw a slowdown. This indicates that while you have a strong running profile, you need to work on maintaining that intensity towards the end. Remember, “It’s not about how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” – Rocky Balboa. You’ve got the running chops, now let's build the strength to back it up and finish strong! 💪

Segments & Race Analysis:

Let’s break it down segment by segment. Your performance was characterized by strong starts, particularly in the ski erg and sled pull, where you ranked in the 83rd and 84th percentiles, respectively. However, the sled push and farmers carry segments were not as strong, ranking in the 59th and 55th percentiles. This indicates a need for increased strength and stability in your training, particularly in pushing and carrying movements.

As for your running splits, the times show a strong start but a gradual decline in pace towards the end of the race. Your best running lap was an impressive 05:36, but the last running segment clocked 08:59, which is a significant drop. This suggests that you may have started off too aggressively, leading to fatigue in the final stretches. The Roxzone time of 12:35 is slower than average by 02:47, indicating that transitions are an area where you can shave off precious seconds. Remember, transitions are like the pit stops in a race—they can make or break your performance! 🏆

Segments to Improve:

Wall Balls: Current Time: 05:53 | Potential Improvement: 00:42 (Target Time: 05:11) | Focus During Training: 44%
Wall balls are your chance to shine! To improve, dedicate specific sessions to practicing wall balls. Aim for high repetitions with a focus on form. Work on your squat depth and explosiveness to get that ball up to the target. Try doing "Tabata Wall Balls"—20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest for 8 rounds. It's going to hurt, but that’s where the magic happens!
Total Running Time: Current Time: 53:12 | Potential Improvement: 00:36 (Target Time: 52:36) | Focus During Training: 37%
Since you’ve shown that you can run well, let’s build that endurance! Incorporate interval training into your weekly routine. Try this: 4x800m at a pace that’s slightly faster than your race pace, with 2 minutes of rest in between. This will help your body adapt to maintaining speed over longer distances while building leg strength.
Rowing: Current Time: 05:15 | Potential Improvement: 00:17 (Target Time: 04:58) | Focus During Training: 17%
Rowing is all about technique and power! Dedicate one day a week to rowing drills. Focus on your stroke technique; aim for longer strokes with fewer, more powerful pulls. Consider doing "500m sprints" on the rower with a 2-minute rest in between to boost your cardiovascular capacity and help you hit that target time.

Race Strategies:

Pacing Strategy: Start strong, but not all out! Aim for a consistent pace that you can maintain across all running segments. A good rule of thumb is to run the first segment at about 80% effort and gradually build it up in the middle, leaving some gas in the tank for the final push.
Transition Efficiency: Work on your transitions during training. Set up mock transitions between exercises to practice quick changes. The more you practice, the more efficient you’ll become, cutting down that Roxzone time.
Hydration & Nutrition: Make sure you're fueling and hydrating adequately before, during, and after the race. A well-hydrated body is a happy body, and a happy body performs better! Consider snacks that are easy to digest and give you a quick energy boost, like bananas or energy gels.

Conclusion:

Kamal and Kapil, you both have a bright future in the Hyrox arena! Your performance in Delhi shows that you're on the right track, but there’s always room for improvement. Set your sights on your next races and use this feedback to sharpen your skills. Keep pushing hard and remember: “The only thing standing between you and your goal is the story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it.”

Plan your next training blocks wisely, focusing on the areas we discussed. You’ve got the foundation; now it’s time to build the skyscraper on top of it! And remember, every time you feel like quitting, think about why you started. Keep grinding, keep fighting, and keep showing up! 💥
