Overall Performance:

Cobi, first off, let me just say, you’ve got grit! Finishing 1671st overall out of nearly 4,000 athletes is no small feat. You’re in the top 42%, which is nothing to scoff at! Your overall time of 01:22:24 shows that you’ve put in some serious work, but there are definitely areas where you can tighten up and improve your performance. Based on your total running time of 42:06, you’ve got a runner’s edge, which tells me you can push harder on the strength elements. Think of it like a well-balanced meal: you’ve got the carbs down, now let’s add some protein to pack on that strength! 💪

Looking at your pacing, it seems like you started off a bit slower than average on your first run segment, which might have cost you some time. But hey, it’s not a sprint; it’s a Hyrox! Your best running lap of 04:47 shows that you have the speed when you need it. Moving forward, let’s harness that speed and work on maintaining it through the strength segments and transitions. Remember, "It's not about how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." - Rocky Balboa. Let’s keep moving forward, Cobi!

Segments & Race Analysis:

Your race segments tell a story of potential and room for improvement. Here’s the breakdown:

Running 1: 05:44 (+01:12 compared to average) - This indicates you may have been a bit cautious, which is okay, but let’s see if we can push that pace closer to your best laps.
Running 2: 05:00 (+00:15 compared to average) - A solid effort here; you’re getting into your groove.
Running 3: 05:14 (+00:08 compared to average) - Consistency is key, but let’s work on that speed.
Sled Push: 03:24 (+00:34 compared to average) - This is an area where we can definitely improve. More strength training will help here.
Sled Pull: 03:18 (-01:28 compared to average) - Yikes! This segment really needs attention. You’ve got to get that sled moving more efficiently.
Farmers Carry: 02:21 (+00:14 compared to average) - Not bad, but we can shave off some seconds with proper grip strength and technique.
Sandbag Lunges: 05:29 (+00:33 compared to average) - This is another segment where we can improve significantly. Let's work on your lunging technique and strength.
Roxzone: 06:32 (+00:00 compared to average) - It looks like you maintained a steady pace here, but let’s optimize those transitions.

Overall, your performance shows that you are a hybrid athlete with strong running capabilities but need to bolster your strength segments. You’ve got the potential to become a powerhouse, Cobi. Now, let’s dig into the segments where improvement is critical!

Segments to Improve:

Here are the segments with the most potential for improvement, along with actionable strategies to turn these into strengths:

Total Running Time:
- Current Time: 42:06
- Target Time: 39:35
- Potential Improvement: 02:31 (53% focus during training)
Training Strategy: Focus on interval running sessions, incorporating both speed and tempo runs to improve your pace. Aim for 1-2 sessions a week where you do 800m repeats at a pace faster than your goal race pace, with adequate rest in between. Also, include long runs at a steady pace to build endurance.
Sandbag Lunges:
- Current Time: 05:29
- Target Time: 04:40
- Potential Improvement: 00:49 (17% focus during training)
Training Strategy: Incorporate weighted lunges into your training at least once a week. Focus on form: keep your back straight, core engaged, and take long strides. Try doing walking lunges with a kettlebell or sandbag. Also, practice lunges with explosive movements to develop strength and speed.
Sled Push:
- Current Time: 03:24
- Target Time: 02:37
- Potential Improvement: 00:47 (16% focus during training)
Training Strategy: Focus on strength training for your legs and core. Incorporate exercises like squat variations (front squats, box squats) and sled pushes in your regular workouts. Aim for at least 1-2 strongman sessions each week where you can practice pushing heavier loads.
Farmers Carry:
- Current Time: 02:21
- Target Time: 01:57
- Potential Improvement: 00:24 (8% focus during training)
Training Strategy: Incorporate farmers carries into your weekly routine. Use heavier weights than you think you can handle, and work on grip strength. Practice short, intense carries over a range of distances to build stamina.

Race Strategies:

Now that we’ve identified the areas for improvement, let’s talk strategy for your next races:

Start Strong: In your next race, focus on a slightly faster pace during your first running segment. You can afford to push a bit more without burning out. Remember, you’re not just running; you’re racing!
Transition Efficiency: Work on your transitions between exercises. The goal is to minimize downtime; practice moving fluidly from one segment to the next in your training sessions. Think of it as a well-oiled machine: smooth and quick!
Breathing Techniques: During strength segments, focus on your breathing. Inhale deeply to fuel your muscles and exhale forcefully during exertion. Proper breathing can make a world of difference.
Mind Over Matter: Remember that mental toughness is just as important as physical training. Visualize your race, and practice positive self-talk. It’s all in your head, and you have the power to push through the fatigue.

Conclusion:

Cobi, you’ve shown great potential in this race, but let’s not settle for just “good enough.” Your next races are just around the corner, and with some focused training and strategies, you can elevate your performance significantly. Whether it’s Myprotein HYROX Manchester on January 21, 2026, or HYROX London on December 4, 2025, seize the opportunity to put these insights into action.
