Overall Performance:

Skye, you brought some serious fire to the 2025 Copenhagen Hyrox competition! Finishing with an overall time of 01:49:26 places you in the top 88% of 658 athletes, and 124th in your age group is no small feat—you're in the game with the best! Your total running time clocked in at 53:59, which is 38 seconds faster than average, showing off your strong runner profile. However, let’s not forget: it’s not just about speed; it's about strength and endurance! Your pacing was a bit inconsistent, starting off a little slower than the average in the first running segment, which may have affected your overall momentum. But hey, every race is a chance to learn, right? 💪

Comparing this performance to your past races, you’ve shown significant improvement! You slashed over three minutes off your previous personal best from the 2024 London race and also did better than your Frankfurt performance. This trend of improvement is something to be proud of, and it’s clear you are on the right path! But remember, there’s always room for growth. Now, let’s dive deeper into the segments and identify where you can elevate your game even further!

Segments & Race Analysis:

Your race segments reveal an interesting story. Here’s a breakdown:

Running 1: You took a bit too long here, at 06:32, which was 45 seconds slower than average. Starting strong is crucial; this is where you can grab some momentum.
Ski Erg: Consistent performance at 05:30, just slightly above average. Keep it up!
Running 2: You found your groove here with a solid 06:14, just a hair faster than the average.
Sled Push: At 02:38, you were way behind the pack, 40 seconds slower than average. This is a key area for improvement.
Running 3: A bit of a dip in pace at 06:48, but you're still hanging in there.
Sled Pull: A challenging segment at 07:43, which was 31 seconds slower than average. This needs work, my friend.
Burpees Broad Jump: At 08:29, you’re slightly above average. Just keep working on that explosive power!
Rowing: A strong 06:20, but there’s potential for faster times here.
Farmers Carry: You clocked in at 02:59, which was consistent but could use some speed.
Sandbag Lunges: A slower segment at 06:47. This is a critical area for improvement.
Wall Balls: Solid at 06:53, keep that rhythm!
Roxzone: You spent 08:12 in transition, which is significantly slower than average—let’s work on that!

Your segments show that while your running is strong, there are critical areas—especially in strength-based exercises—that need your focus. Let’s harness that runner’s edge while beefing up your strength and transitions!

Segments to Improve:

Here’s a breakdown of the segments where you can dig deep and focus your training:

Total Running Time:
- Current Time: 53:59
- Potential Improvement: 54 seconds (to 53:05)
- Focus During Training: 22%
Training Strategy: Incorporate interval training and tempo runs into your weekly routine. Aim for a mix of short, fast-paced runs followed by longer, sustained efforts. This will help improve your overall running efficiency! Consider hill sprints for added strength.
Sandbag Lunges:
- Current Time: 06:47
- Potential Improvement: 48 seconds (to 05:59)
- Focus During Training: 20%
Training Strategy: Implement weighted lunges in your routine, focusing on form and explosiveness. Try a combination of forward and reverse lunges, and don’t forget to practice with the sandbag! Even add in some plyometric lunges for that explosive strength. Aim for 3 sets of 10 reps, increasing the weight as you go.
Sled Pull:
- Current Time: 07:43
- Potential Improvement: 45 seconds (to 06:58)
- Focus During Training: 18%
Training Strategy: Focus on your pulling technique—lower your hips and drive through your legs! Incorporate sled pulls into your workouts, aiming for progressive overload. Gradually increase the weight and work on improving your speed. Aim for 4-5 sets of 20 meters, resting adequately between sets.
Rowing:
- Current Time: 06:20
- Potential Improvement: 33 seconds (to 05:47)
- Focus During Training: 13%
Training Strategy: Incorporate specific rowing intervals into your training. Aim for a mix of short and long intervals on the rower, focusing on maintaining a consistent pace throughout. Also, work on your technique to maximize efficiency. Aim for 5 sets of 500 meters with a focus on maintaining a steady split time.
Burpees Broad Jump:
- Current Time: 08:29
- Potential Improvement: 29 seconds (to 08:00)
- Focus During Training: 12%
Training Strategy: To improve your speed on BBJs, incorporate them into your HIIT sessions. Focus on explosive jumps and quick transitions between burpees and jumps. Aim for 4 rounds of 10 reps, maximizing your speed.
Farmers Carry:
- Current Time: 02:59
- Potential Improvement: 21 seconds (to 02:38)
- Focus During Training: 8%
Training Strategy: Increase your grip strength with dead hangs and farmer's carries in your training. Aim to progressively increase the weights you’re carrying. For conditioning, try timed carries over a distance, focusing on maintaining a strong posture.

Focus on these areas, and we’ll turn those weaknesses into newfound strengths. Remember, what doesn't challenge you doesn’t change you! 💥

Race Strategies:

As you gear up for your next race, let’s refine your race strategy:

Start Strong: Your first running segment is critical. Aim to start strong but controlled. Don’t go all out; find your rhythm early on to set the tone for the rest of the race.
Transition Time: Work on your transition between exercises. Set up a routine in training to practice quick switches—get in, get out, and keep moving! You want to be like a well-oiled machine, not a clunky old truck!
Maintain Consistency: During strength segments, focus on your form and pacing. You want to maintain a steady effort to avoid burning out. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint… unless you’re sprinting!
Stay Hydrated: Don’t forget to hydrate well before the race and have a plan for hydration during it. A well-hydrated athlete is a performing athlete!
